Visualizations

Visualizations bring your plugin’s UI to life with real-time audio analysis displays. Each effect node includes associated visualizers that can be placed on your Faceplate.

Available Visualizers

VisualizerAssociated NodesWhat It Shows
Audio LevelInput, Output, SamplerPeak and RMS level meters
WaveformOutputReal-time waveform display
DelayDelayDelay time, feedback, stereo phase
Gain ReductionCompressor, LimiterDynamic gain reduction in dB
Frequency ResponseEQEQ curve and spectrum
LFOLFO, Phaser, ChorusModulation waveform and phase
ReverbReverbEarly reflections and decay envelope
Transfer CurveDistortionInput/output saturation curve

Adding Visualizers to the Faceplate

  1. Switch to the Faceplate Canvas
  2. Open the Collection panel
  3. Find the desired visualizer under Visualizers
  4. Drag it onto the Faceplate

Visualizers automatically connect to their associated nodes when you have one in your graph.

Visualizer Details

Audio Level Visualizer

Real-time level metering with:

  • Peak level (fast response)
  • RMS level (average loudness)
  • Stereo L/R display
  • Optional clip indicators

Best for: Input/output monitoring, gain staging.

Waveform Visualizer

Scrolling waveform display showing:

  • Real-time audio shape
  • Amplitude over time
  • Stereo or summed mono view

Best for: Visual feedback of audio output.

Delay Visualizer

Visual representation of:

  • Current delay time
  • Feedback amount
  • L/R phase relationship (stereo modes)
  • Tap tempo indication

Best for: Understanding delay timing.

Gain Reduction Visualizer

Dynamic compression display showing:

  • Current gain reduction (dB)
  • Reduction over time
  • Threshold indicator
  • Peak hold

Best for: Monitoring compression activity.

Frequency Response Visualizer

EQ curve display with:

  • Combined frequency response
  • Individual band curves
  • Optional real-time spectrum analyzer
  • Gain scale

Best for: Precise EQ adjustments.

LFO Visualizer

Modulation display showing:

  • Current waveform shape
  • Phase position
  • Rate indication
  • Output level

Best for: Understanding modulation timing.

Reverb Visualizer

Decay envelope display showing:

  • Early reflection pattern
  • Late reverb tail
  • Decay time
  • Early/late balance

Best for: Visualizing reverb character.

Transfer Curve Visualizer

Distortion characteristic display showing:

  • Input/output relationship
  • Saturation knee
  • Asymmetry (from bias)
  • Current operating point

Best for: Understanding distortion character.

Customizing Visualizers

Select a visualizer on the Faceplate and use the Inspector to customize:

PropertyDescription
SizeWidth and height
ColorsLine, fill, background colors
ScaleAmplitude or frequency range
StyleLine, filled, bars

Performance Considerations

Visualizers transfer data from the audio thread to the UI thread using lock-free buffers. They are designed to be efficient, but for best performance:

  • Disable visualizers you don’t need (in the Inspector)
  • Reduce visualizer resolution for complex UIs
  • Use simpler visualizer styles

Visualizers and Export

When you export your plugin:

  • Visualizers are included in the UI
  • They continue to work in the exported plugin
  • No additional configuration needed
