EQ Node
A 5-band fully parametric equalizer with multiple filter types and a global tilt control.
Overview
| Property | Value |
|---|
| Category | Effects / EQ |
| Version | 1 |
| Inputs | L, R (audio) |
| Outputs | L, R (audio) |
Parameters
Per-Band Parameters (Bands 1-5)
Each band has identical controls:
| Parameter | Range | Default | Description |
|---|
| Enable | On/Off | On | Band bypass |
| Type | See below | Bell | Filter type |
| Frequency | 20Hz - 20kHz | Varies | Center frequency |
| Gain | -18dB - +18dB | 0dB | Boost/cut amount |
| Q | 0.1 - 10 | 1.0 | Bandwidth (higher = narrower) |
Filter Types
| Type | Description | Use Case |
|---|
| Bell | Symmetrical boost/cut | General shaping |
| Low Shelf | Boosts/cuts below frequency | Bass adjustment |
| High Shelf | Boosts/cuts above frequency | Air, brightness |
| Low Pass | Removes frequencies above | Darkening, filtering |
| High Pass | Removes frequencies below | Rumble removal |
| Notch | Narrow cut | Removing resonances |
Global
| Parameter | Range | Default | Description |
|---|
| Output Gain | -12dB - +12dB | 0dB | Master output level |
| Tilt | -6dB - +6dB | 0dB | Tilt EQ (bass↔treble balance) |
Default Band Frequencies
| Band | Default Frequency | Typical Use |
|---|
| Band 1 | 80 Hz | Sub bass, rumble |
| Band 2 | 250 Hz | Low mids, warmth |
| Band 3 | 1 kHz | Midrange, presence |
| Band 4 | 3 kHz | Upper mids, clarity |
| Band 5 | 10 kHz | Air, brilliance |
Visualizer
The Frequency Response Visualizer shows:
- Combined EQ curve
- Individual band contributions
- Real-time frequency spectrum (optional)
Tips
- Use High Pass on Band 1 to clean up low-end rumble
- Tilt is great for quick tonal balance adjustments
- Use narrow Q (high values) for surgical cuts
- Use wide Q (low values) for musical boosts
- Enable only the bands you need to save CPU
Example Presets
Vocal Polish
- Band 1: High Pass @ 80Hz
- Band 2: Bell -3dB @ 250Hz, Q=1.5 (reduce mud)
- Band 3: Bell +2dB @ 3kHz, Q=1.0 (presence)
- Band 5: High Shelf +3dB @ 10kHz (air)
Guitar Scoop
- Band 2: Bell -4dB @ 400Hz, Q=0.8
- Band 3: Bell +3dB @ 2.5kHz, Q=1.2
Mix Tilt
- Tilt: +2dB (brighter overall balance)
- Output Gain: -1dB (compensate)
